Commercial electricians in Nottingham

Commercial electrical work is judged on two things: whether it is compliant, and whether it stopped you trading. We plan for both before anyone picks up a tool.

NAPIT registeredTrustMark licence 4150640Fully insured

We work across Nottingham for shops, offices, hospitality venues, landlords and light industrial premises, on everything from a lighting scheme to a full fit-out, as part of our wider commercial electrical service across the East Midlands.

Security cleared, which matters more than it sounds

Our engineers hold BPSS and SC security clearance.

For most commercial jobs that is irrelevant. For work in government premises, secure sites, data centres, education and parts of the utilities and defence supply chain, it is the difference between being able to quote and not. Very few electrical contractors of our size hold it.

If your site has vetting requirements, tell us at the enquiry stage and we will confirm what we can cover.

What we take on

  • Fit-outs and refurbishments for retail, office and hospitality
  • Lighting schemes, including LED replacement programmes with a payback calculation rather than a vague promise of savings
  • Planned and reactive maintenance on a contract or ad hoc
  • Commercial EICRs and compliance testing, including emergency lighting
  • Distribution work, boards, sub-mains and three-phase
  • EV charge points for workplaces, where the per-socket workplace grant scheme applies

Working around trading hours

The programme is agreed before anything starts. Where the work would stop you trading we do it out of hours, and we say so in the quote rather than discovering it on day two.

For retail and hospitality that usually means evenings and early mornings. For offices it usually means weekends. Either way it is priced in the fixed quote.

Compliance, and what a landlord or managing agent actually needs

Commercial premises need a periodic inspection and test at intervals determined by the type of installation and its use, typically every five years for offices and shops and more frequently for higher-risk environments. Emergency lighting needs monthly function testing and an annual full-duration test, logged.

We carry out the testing, produce the certification, and keep the schedule so that the reminder comes from us. For multi-site operators that is usually the whole reason they change contractor.

Nottingham and beyond

Nottingham city centre, the Lace Market, Sneinton Market, the Creative Quarter, the retail parks and the industrial estates around the ring road, plus Beeston, Long Eaton and the surrounding towns. We also cover Derby and Leicester, so multi-site operators can use one contractor across the East Midlands. Everything else we do locally is on our Nottingham electricians page.

Questions, answered

Commercial electrician Nottingham FAQs

What size of job do you take on?

Everything from a single lighting circuit to a full fit-out. If a job is genuinely too large for us we will say so rather than take it on and let it run over.

Can you work around our trading hours?

Yes, and the programme is agreed and priced before we start. Out-of-hours work is in the quote, not added afterwards.

Do you hold security clearance?

Yes. Our engineers hold BPSS and SC clearance, which allows us to work on secure and government sites that most contractors of our size cannot.

How often does a commercial property need an EICR?

It depends on the installation and its use. Offices and shops are typically five years, higher-risk environments more often. We will tell you what applies to yours and put it on a schedule.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes, on a planned schedule or reactive, whichever suits how you operate.
