Emergency electrician, Nottingham
If something is sparking, smoking, hot to the touch or has tripped and will not reset, switch it off at the consumer unit and call us. Do not keep resetting a breaker that keeps tripping. It is tripping for a reason and the reason has not gone away.

Call 07476 988102. That number reaches an electrician, not a call centre.
What counts as an emergency
Worth calling out for:
- Burning smells, scorch marks, or an accessory that is hot to the touch
- A breaker or RCD that trips immediately every time it is reset
- Total loss of power where neighbours still have supply
- Water ingress into any part of the electrical installation
- Exposed or damaged live conductors
- A commercial property that cannot trade
Can usually wait until tomorrow:
- One dead socket or one light circuit out, where everything else is working normally
- A faulty appliance that trips the RCD only when it is plugged in
- Anything cosmetic
We will tell you honestly which of the two you have when you call, rather than charging you a call-out for something that could have waited.

How we approach a fault
Intermittent faults are the ones that get expensive, because the standard approach is to replace parts until the symptom disappears. That works occasionally and costs a lot when it does not.
We test systematically to isolate the cause: insulation resistance, continuity, and splitting the installation to narrow down which circuit and which section. Then we fix the actual fault and certify what we have done.
What it costs
You get the price on the phone before we come out, not after. No dispatch fees, no call-centre mark-up, and no invented urgency to pad the bill.
If the power is off right now
Two checks before you call, both of which take a minute:
Check whether it is just you. If your neighbours are also out, it is a supply fault, not your installation. Call your network operator on 105, free from any phone. That is not us, and we cannot fix a network fault.
Check the consumer unit. If one breaker has tripped and the rest are on, the fault is on that circuit. Unplug everything on it, then try resetting once. If it holds, plug things back in one at a time until it trips again and you have found the appliance. If it trips again immediately with nothing plugged in, leave it off and call us.

Often we can narrow it down on the phone, and sometimes we can talk you through fixing it without a visit. If we can, we will.
